With no street lights in the village, the sea on one side and no large towns within 10 miles in any direction the night skies on the Hartland Peninsula are truly spectacular.  In the winter the milky Way is clearly visible and the Andromeda Galaxy is a naked eye object.  A recent TV programme on astronomy had the Hartland Peninsula on it's list of best star viewing areas in the UK.  If you are interested in astronomy and want to bring your telescope you are welcome, alternatively just sit outside and enjoy the view on a clear night.

This spectacular image was taken in July 2017 early in the morning by Stef van Vuuren and shows the Milky Way galaxy over the folley known as The Warren near the campsite..
